Online Membership Data Reporting

Why OMDR?

For years, PTAs have wanted a mechanism that would allow them to more quickly and cost-effectively collect dues, communicate with members, track demographics, and offer more member benefits. Using the technology available to us, National PTA kicked off their Online Membership and Dues Reporting (OMDR) project in 2003.

Designed to give local units the ability to enter data directly into the system, OMDR is a membership database that will help you keep track of your members, produce mailing labels, send mass e-mails to your members, and more.

Learn OMDR

National PTA continues to host webinars to help local units become familiar with OMDR and to answer your questions. Following are the dates and times (Eastern) of upcoming workshops which you can attend in the comfort of your own home -- all you need is a phone and the ability to connect online at the same time you are on the phone.

  1. Go to www.pta.org/omdr
  2. Click on “First Visit” under “PTA OMDR System Sign In”

  4. Enter your Member ID Number. Local unit presidents can get this number from Massachusetts PTA. Local unit members should request your member number from your local unit president or OMDR "Champion."
  5. Enter your Local Unit ID number. If you do not have your local unit ID number, provided by National PTA, please contact Massachusetts PTA.
  6. Enter your Position
  7. Enter your Desired Username

  9. Complete the information on the following page (identify password, e-mail address, and recovery question and answer).

Once you’ve completed the process, return to www.pta.org/omdr and enter your newly selected username and password. You will then be able to access data for your local PTA unit, as well as enter your officers, members, and other information.

More Help for You

Several tools have been developed to make accessing and working in OMDR easier for local units:

OMDR Tips

First Visit. When you are completing your first visit, many local unit presidents are receiving an error message that says “term end date not found.” This is a general error message. When you receive this message, try to complete the first visit again, ensuring that your member ID number is correct, your name is spelled exactly the same as it was input into the system by the State PTA, and that you have an unique username. The system does not allow for multiple users of a username. For example, “PTAleader” is not a good user name as it is general. However, “PTALeader75” is more specific. You can also look up individual’s information under “View/Edit Local Unit Officer” to ensure that the information is consistent and correct.

Set Membership Year. Please make sure that the current membership year is set! Go to Local Unit Update and enter the correct dates for the membership year. Keep in mind that if the start of the membership year is in the future, any members added to the system won’t be seen until that date. It is imperative to set this year to 2007 so that it is the correct information!

Adding Local Unit Officers. Once local unit presidents are in the system, they then need to add their own local unit officers. The other offices that can have access to OMDR are: Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Membership Chair. These officers need to get their membership ID number from their local unit president after they have been entered into the system. When entering in Local Unit Membership Chairs, they must be listed as “Local Unit Membership Chair” or “MEMBCH.” The Membership VP designation does not allow them entry as a user for the local unit site.

Membership Cards. The "Membership Card PDF Blank" option lists all of the information except the member’s name. Local units who want to print this information and write in new member names at back to school events can use this option.

Term Begin and End Date. When a person is added to OMDR with a start date in the future, those individuals will not show up in OMDR until the term start date. Therefore, unless you receive an error message, the members are in the system. If you want to see the information once you input your members, you will need to use the current date as the start of the membership year when you upload or enter the data.

Renewals. If your members were entered into the system (and most officers were), beginning two months prior to the end of your membership year, the member renewal feature will be on your site. This will allow you to quickly renew your returning members. This f eature will be visible for four months after the start of the membership year to allow for ample time for membership drives and renewals to be input into OMDR. For example, if your membership year is August 1 – July 31, the renewal feature will be available June 1 – December 1.
